Comparing two cities is really tough, but it can be even more challenging when comparing two cities in the same state. There is a nice shop with cool geodes and some other cool stuff (to which I do not know the name of) The U.S. Department of the Interior has recognized The Lost Sea as a Registered National Natural Landmark. This campground has everything you need to enjoy a memorable camping trip. You can also take a backstage tour and learn more about how special effects are produced for the show. We will definitely be coming back in the future. You can join their daily tours to learn more about the caverns history, take a boat ride on the underground sea, or hike the trails. The cities youll find between Nashville and Gatlinburg are Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Sevierville and Townsend. Over 700 acres of park land with a lake, walking trails, picnic tables, and restrooms. Campsite was clean and quiet. Knoxville, comparatively, has a much more artistic vibe and regularly features art fairs and music festivals. We picked a few some of them tasted like the bottle needed switched out because it had died and were served in a communion cup. Very well maintained replica of a fort! It even has swings and playgrounds for the little ones, and bathrooms equipped with hot showers. There is regularly the chance to listen to live music, and there is a booming nightlife scene. Beautiful park with gorgeous trails! It took a total of 1.5 hours from the parking lot to the base of the Falls. There is even an event room with a bar with a very fair rental price! The scenic overlook point is a spectacular view, and usually a very quiet spot. Temporarily Closed as of 02/13/2021 but unfortunately they do not have any information posted on any of their public contact site. We have a shed structure that looks kinda ugly but it acts as a shield from the wind and offers privacy that the others don't. (And while the bathrooms are a bit dated, they are very clean and have a second ladies room inside the theater.) The campground host was very friendly and helpful. A whopping 76% of the population identifies as White, 17% Black, and only 1.8% are Asian. Kids under 12 are free. Market Square is one of the most charming places to go in Knoxville, with an array of shops and restaurants lining the cobblestone sidewalks. Sites are well marked and easy to find. The back half features many interactive displays obviously geared towards children. Although in the same state, Knoxville does not see nearly as much severe weather as Nashville. The trail heads are all drivable. A must visit! We stayed in one of their standard cabins in May and were surprised how quiet the park was even on a Sunday. Just happened to see a sign and decided to detour and check it out. Most of the residents in Nashville have had at least some exposure to college or have earned an Associates degree. Glades range from bare rock to a thin substrate of soil with desert-like vegetation to shallow soil grasslands. Amazing view and equally interesting hike to the base of the falls, and it's all worth it! A flat of strawberries $40. This little gem is tucked in the beautiful landscape of East-Mid Tennessee. Everyone was always so happy and full of joy even when multiple runs had to be done of the same set. Like Historic Route 66, I-40 cuts right through Petrified Forest National Park, which features impressive hikes and scenic viewpoints. Nice little museum! This neighborhood is ideally located between Vanderbilt University and Belmont University. Built in Greek Revival style, the 19th-century mansion was the former home of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States. The glades may be small or large open areas surrounded by cedar trees. The tour also includes viewing archival footage of some of the most important moments in Opry history as well as 3D photographs. Also, if you want to spend a day in the city, Nashville is less than 45 minutes away. If you're looking for a museum exclusively relating to Oak Ridge or the Manhattan Project, I think the K-25 History Center down the road is slightly better, as it's roughly the same size and manages to pack more information and more artifacts into the museum. Nashville, comparatively, gives residents more purchase power and less pollution throughout the city. There are specific times when the tour starts, so you might have to wait a bit for it. There is not a lot of parking, but there are bathrooms at the visitor's center and trailheads. Located just outside Nashville, this sprawling estate has more than 30 historic buildings including the original mansion, a museum, and breathtaking gardens. However, it was small and didn't have as many artifacts and relics as I had hoped. The distance between Nashville and Knoxville is 162 miles. I wish they had their logo stemless wine glasses for souvenirs but they were sold out when we were there. There are such lovely trails all over, a nice playground for the children, clean restroom facilities, not to mention the actual History Trail, which was amazing. When we were there in late winter there was not much to be seen in the way of wildflowers, but the trails were very quiet and pleasant. When you buy one of these experiences, you can feel good about the fact that you are helping Belle Meade fulfill its educational mission. Just outside the city itself, there is an extensive trail system at Ijams Nature Center. It's nearly dead in 2021. Own a cabin, A-frame, yurt, or other outdoor stay? Still, it can be hard to deny the fantastic heritage and music history found in Nashville, and for those music lovers at heart, this can be a hard city to turn down. Its also close by to another state park that also has a pretty big waterfall. The boat ride was really cool and not something you commonly get to do. The atmosphere was very nice and somewhat romantic. Housing will be about 34% less in Knoxville than in Nashville, with both home prices and rent being significantly lower. Has been very quiet compared to a lot of other places we have stayed. If youre passing through and have a couple hours to kill, go for it. But if you're in the area and looking for things to do, it can't hurt to visit both as they both have their strengths and weaknesses! The road distance is 180.6 miles. It's been years since I've been here but it is one of the best childhood memories that I have. I would suggest to anyone who wants to see some nature while visiting the city. You can drive from Knoxville to Nashville. However, if you've never been, you need to check out the Cumberland County Playhouse! First time here and all staff and rangers have been very nice. Whenever I visit there under construction so it looked like half their parking lot was under construction too so not a whole lot of parking but they're still a good amount the casino was clean itself and it looked like they were walking around sterilizing machines so it seems safe enough.
